Match Report

YMCA produced an excellent team performance to beat the undefeated league leaders at a sunny Seafield Rd last Sunday. They started in dominant fashion with midfield duo Ellie McNally and Honey Griffith running the show and forcing the visitors on to the back foot and took the lead midway through the first half.  The outstanding  Isabelle Kells gathered the ball on the half way line and she weaved her way past three defenders and slotted the ball home with an accurate finish. She grabbed a second goal shortly after when the visitors’ keeper failed to clear her lines and she pounced to make it 2-0. Kells completed her hat trick when she raced through the Feniscowles rearguard and fired home after gathering a superb ball from the impressive Honey Griffith to give YMCA a 3-0 lead at half time. The visitors came much more into the game after the restart and YMCA keeper Olivia Neal was forced into pulling off some fine saves and make excellent interceptions to start attacks for her team.  YMCA though couldn’t add to their score in the 2nd half and the visitors notched a consolation goal in the closing minutes.  In this superb victory by YMCA Saisha Bracken and Yasmine Menezes were both dominant in midfield with Lara Pilling, Madison Lucas and Phoebe Davies all notable also in defence.
