Match Report

Due to illness and holidays YMCA were only able to muster a bare seven players for this game in sunny Whitworth last Sunday.  Despite this though YMCA were more than a match for the home side in the early stages with keeper Olivia Neal composed and assured behind her defence. However it was Whitworth who took the lead in the 18th min then doubled their advantage 7 mins later and YMCA went into the break 2-0 behind.  They came out the second half though determined to get back into the game. Ellie McNally led the charge and she drove forward with an impressive run and cool finish to make it 2-1. The game was then a more even contest with Saishia Bracken and Georgia Norman working hard to try to find openings. Grace Harris almost scored an equaliser mid way through the half after more good work from McNally but her effort went narrowly wide. With 10 mins remaining though Whitworth scored a decisive 3rd goal to knock the stuffing out of YMCA and with no subs to call on YMCA understandably tired in the latter stages. Whitworth capitalised by adding two further goals to make the scoreline harsh for the spirited and gutsy team display by YMCA for whom Lara Pilling and Madison Lucas were both notable in defence throughout.
