Key news and reports: WEEKEND 12/13th MARCH 2016

This was a dry and sunny weekend, and pleasantly warm on the Sunday, so it was just a shame we had no games there in the afternoon. with both our 16s and 14s Boys both having away fixtures. Our 16s looked as though they were heading for a setback in their quest for the title as they were being held to a goalless draw at Poulton Youth with less than 10 mins to go. However late strikes by James Cowburn and Jack Bishop earned us a 2-0 victory. Our 14s were at Fleetwood Town where we fell behind then went 2-1 in front but the home side netted twice more to inflict a 3-2 defeat on our boys. On the Sunday morning our 16s Girls were at Seafield taking on Fleetwood Town where it remained 0-0 at the interval. Midway through the 2nd half though the visitors broke the deadlock with a very fortuetous goal, the ball from a corner kick eluding everybody and finding its way into our net and despite our spirit efforts we couldn't find an equaliser and Town held on for a 1-0 win. Our 12s Girls were at Langho and there were no goals midway through the 1st half. However we bagged three times late in the half and added two more after the break to give us as excellent 5-0 victory. Isobelle Kells and Georgia Norman both notched pairs.

On Saturday morning in the Poulton Primary League three of our teams were in Cup action. Our 10s were at Fleetwood Town where our boys started really well and took a 2-0 lead. Midway through the 2nd half we were 3-1 ahead but the home side fought back to earn a 3-3 draw which meant the tie had to be decided by a penalty shootout. Unfortunately it was Town who came out on top so despite playing some excellent football throughout it was a cruel Cup exit for our boys. Our goals came from George Denye (2) and Ali Ruman. At Seafield our 9s Oranges were being held to a goaless draw at half time in their Coulton Cup tie against Poulton Reds. However a 2nd half hat trick from Harvey Barbour and a Theodore Mawane strike gave us an eventual 4-0 win. Our 9s Blacks had a home tie in the Plate competition against Wyre Jun Blacks and double strikes from Alfie Berry and Oli Hoskinsson gave us a 6-1 win. Billy Breakell and Tom Woodington were both on target also. In league action at Seafield our 12s entertained Blackpool Rangers Tangerines and helped by two goals from recent signing Zane Seddon we came out comfortable 7-1 winners.
