Key news and reports: WEEKEND 17/18 OCTOBER 2015

A dull over cast weekend and dry with little wind. On the Saturday our 11s were at Thornton Whites where we retained our top spot in the table with a comfortable 9-0 victory. Charlee McGuiness led the way with four of the goals with Max Allitt weighing in with a hat trick. Our 12s Boys made the short trip for a local derby against Lytham Maroons where we found ourselves a goal behind in the opening minutes. We responded well though with two goals before the break and we added another in the 2nd half to claim a hard earned 3-1 victory. Josh Edwards netted twice with Spencer Phillips our other marksman.

Our 12s Boys were in action again on the Sunday taking on Foxhall at Seafield in the 3rd round of the County Cup. With four regular players missing for various reasons though we were left quite depleted but we managed to reach half time with a 3-1 lead with strikes by Josh Edwards (2) and Angelo Vinci. A very useful Foxhall outfit though stormed back after the restart and with a fine fightback they notched four more goals to run out 5-3 victors. Also at Seafield our 14s were a goal behind inside the first 2 mins against Thornton Reds and although we soon levelled through Spencer Baxendale our boys struggled to cope against physically stronger opposition and we went down 8-2. We notched a 2nd consolation late in the game when Fenn Breakell fired home a superbly struck 25yd free kick.

Our 12s Girls played hosts to Great Harwood in the morning and the visitors took an early lead. We overcame this early setback though to reach the interval 3-1 ahead and then netted twice more in the 2nd half to record a fine 5-1 victory. Isabelle Kells capped an outstanding performance with a hat trick, Georgia Norman and an own goal completing the scoring.
