Key news and reports: WEEKEND 18/19th APRIL

Three YMCA teams clinched cup final places with semi final victories over the weekend. On Saturday our Under 10s Boys beat Kirkham away by a 7-1 aggregate scoreline. All the goals came in the B game after the A game had ended goalless. On the Sunday our 15s Boys took on St Annes FC at Stanley Park Arena where we finished up 6-1 winners, Ross Hart bagging a couple of our goals. Over at Burnley our 11s Girls were involved in a thrilling encounter in their NVBGL Cup semi final tie against Feniscowles & Pleasington. Despite going behind early in the game we recovered well to take a 4-2 lead into half time. The end-to-end action continued throughout the second half before we eventually emerged 6-4 winners with Ellie Etheridge bagging all six of our goals. Reaching the cup final in the team's first ever season is a great achievement by the girls and congratulations also to managers Roger De Nobrega and Chris McNally. Our 16s Boys have already claimed a Hogan Cup final place to take place at Bloomfield Rd next month

Another YMCA player to achieve a double hat trick this weekend was Rio Louth for our Under 12s who beat St Annes FC 9-0 at Blackpool Rd North in a league game, all his six goals coming in the 2nd half. Our Under 11s Boys had an excellent 5-0 victory over Poulton Youth at Cottam Hall, a result which makes now them favourites to clinch the league's runners spot. At Seafield Rd our Under 13s Boys looked like claiming all three points against BJFF Blacks. After a goalless first half a 20yd strike by Jake Oldendorp put us in front but the visitors grabbed an equaliser in the closing minutes to earn a 1-1 draw.
