Key news and reports

Therre was only one YMCA team in competitive action this weekend. Our Under 15s had a local derby against Lytham Juniors at Seafield and it was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 20th min. YMCA equalised with a great team goal 10 mins later when a flowing move involving several players was finished with Toby Grant finding the net with a fine shot. Soon after the restart Lytham regainded the lead but YMCA levelled again with a great individual effort by Harvey Shaw. He collected the ball on the left and with some clever footwork rounded three defenders before firing the ball superbly into the far top corner of the net. Five minutes later an even more spectacular goal put YMCA ahead for the first time. A clearance out of Lytham's defence was gathered on the half way line by Taylor Stock and spotting the keeper was off his line he lobbed the ball goalwards and it fell under the crossbar and into the net. This proved to be the winner and all the goals in this 3-2 victory were worthy of winning any game. A very sporting and entertaining contest which was a great credit to both teams.

Afer more heavy rain last week many pitches were left waterlogged for the Saturday morning games but non-competitive games went ahead at Seafield involving YMCA's Under 8s,8s, 10s and 11s

Key news and reports

Our 13s Girls were at Lostck Hall in a top-table clash on Sunday with both teams boasting unbeaten league records. YMCA fell behind twice in the 1st half but equalised twice with a double strike from Isabelle Kells to make it 2-2 at half time. YMCA took control of the game after the restart and Kells netted twice more to bring her match tally to four. Annabelle Jackson also found the net to give YMCA an impressive 5-2 victory.

Our Under 12s Boys notched up a comfortable 8-0 victory over Thornton Reds at Seafield Rd on Saturday. Recent signing Dean Fenwick made a memorable club debut by claiming a hat trick with Noah Mawene also scoring three of our goals.

Our 15s Boys were away to Fleetwood Gym on Sunday and we reached the interval 2-0 in front. We added a 3rd goal after the break but Gym came back with two replies to create a nervy ending to the contest but we hung on for a 3-2 victory. Taylor Stock notched two of our goals with Toby Grant also on target. Our 13s were at Cottom Hall facing poulton FC where we suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat, all the goals coming in the 1st half. Archie Hingley was our scorer

Following last week's mass postponment of local games due to waterlogged pitches many more games were lost this weekend due to the weather. A heavy overnight frost on Saturday morning caused pitches to be unplayable and over half of the scheduled PDPL games were iced off. Sunday was a much milder day though and most games went ahead. At Seafield our 13s Girls took on Langho and our girls were well below par in the first half after a 3-week lay off. The contest was goalless at the interval but we found some of our usual fluency after the break and we eventually emerged 4-0 winners to maintain our 100% league record. Isabelle Kells weighed in with two of our goals, Annabelle Jackson and Saisha Bracken were our other scorers. On the next pitch our 16s Girls were entertaining Accrington in what proved to be a very even game. However the visitors grabbed three goals in a 10-min spell before half time and we were unable to get back into the contest andAccrington went home with a 3-0 victory   Also at Seafield our 13s Boys produced their best display of the season against Thonton Reds. We took a 4-0 lead and the visitors replied with goals either side of the interval but we added a fifth to notch up an excellent 5-2 victory. Recent signing Jay Ormond bagged a pair with Gabriel Ward and Harry Dyer also on target. Our 15s were away to Fleetwood Town where we were second best in the first half and trailed 2-0 at half time. We improved considerably after the restart and pulled a goal back through Jake Molloy but as we pressed hard for an equaliser the home side added a late goal for a 3-1 win.

Key news and reports

12 year old Josh Dolby-Armstrong suffered a serious injury at Seafield Rd playing for YMCA's Under 14s against St Annes FC Greens in a Coulton Cup Group match. In the 15th min of the game with YMCA 2-0 ahead Josh was through on goal and was brought down in the area. The referee pointed to the penalty spot without hesitation but Josh remained on the ground and it was obvious that he was seriously injured and an ambulance was immediately called for. The game was held up for 35 mins whilst the paramedics arrived and tended to the boy before taking him to Victoria Hospital. X-rays revealed that he had fractured his Fibular just above his ankle and aslo a broken bone in his foot. Josh is a very talented young boy playing a year above his age group and we all hope for a very speedy recovery for this unfortunate lad

Key news and reports

A new season arrived this weekend although not all YMCA teams were in action. It was a busy start for our 12s Boys with two games withing 48 hours and they achieved fine victories in both. Their league campaign commenced at a rain and wind swept Common Edge on the Saturday morning against AFC Blackpool and with the elements in our favour a double strike by Charlee McGuiness helped us to a 4-0 interval lead. With the wind and heavy rain at their backs in the 2nd half AFC were much more in the game but with gritty determination we kept the home side at bay and we went home with a 4-0 win. Our boys then travelled to the other side of Preston on the Sunday to take on Bamber Bridge in the 1st round of the County Cup. An evely contested 1st half ended at 1-1 but our boys produced an impressive 2nd half performance which brought four further goals to give us an excellent 5-1 victory. Noah Mawene capped an outstanding display by bagging two of our goals. Unfortunately our 15s made an early exit from their County Cup competition with a 4-0 defeat by Barrow outfit Vickerstown at Seafield.

YMCA\'s newest team, the Under 14s, had a fine start to their season over at Mythop Rd. This team was Squires Gate Juniors Under 13s last season but the BDYFL had to scrap this season\'s Under 14 Section due to a lack of teams after many had defected to the PDPL. Squires Gate though were denied entry to the PDPL so that left a squad of players, a manger and a bank account being in limbo until the YMCA came to their rescue. Because manager Mick Bishop had been involved with our club in previous years and three of their players were former YMCA boys we agreed to take them under our wing to become YMCA Under 14s. A great start they made as well in YMCA colours with a great 8-3 victory over Foxhall, Ethan Goulding leading the way with a hat trick in a tremendous team display.

With the weather being so atrocious it was fantastic when a Local business agreed to buy the team a complete set of Winter Coats. This generous offer was much appreciated and the players are already feeling the benefit!
