Sandy Football Club: Club Press Release June 2010

Article for the Biggleswade Chronicle announcing the appointment of a 1st Team Manager

Sandy FC has recently appointed John Albon as their new first team manager. A level 2 coach for both outfield players and goalkeepers, John has spent 5 years coaching and managing at steps 6 and 7, including a spell at Codicote FC in the Herts County Premier that saw them finish in their highest league position ever and enjoy a three round run in the FA Vase. He also coached Codicote U15s to their league title this season.

The new manager is looking forward to seeing all current players, along with some new faces when pre-season training gets started on Wednesday July 7th at 7 pm at Bedford Road Recreation Ground. Speaking to the Biggleswade Chronicle, Albon said "I am grateful to the Committee at Sandy for giving me this opportunity, and I hope I can repay them with a successful season on the pitch. This is a club with a history in higher divisions and it is my intention to get us back there as soon as possible, with hopefully a cup run or two thrown in".

Club Chairman, Colin Osborne, said that “he was extremely happy to have John on board and with this appointment the managerial team for next season has now been completed”. Graham Ward remains at the helm with the Reserve Team assisted by David Lloyd with Barry Uylatt and Barry Mills leading Sandy Sunday.”
