Sandy Football Club: Manager Appointment

Sandy appoint new 1st team manager

Sandy FC has appointed Barry Morris as its new first team Manager for the forthcoming season. Barry is a previous player at the Club when Sandy were in the Premier Division and left six years ago when he moved to Dunton Football Club where he became player/manager for their Premier Division side in the Bedfordshire Football League. Last season Barry was at Shefford and Campton FC where he played in their 1st team.

Club Chairman, Colin Osborne, says that "in interview he found Barry to be enthusiastic, a 'breath of fresh air', someone who had done his homework on the Club and the right person for Sandy at this moment in time".

Colin believes the Club is entering an exciting period in its history. Work on the Pavilion refurbishment starts on Monday June 17th with Modplan appointed as the contractors. The contract is due to be completed by 9th August.

In addition the Club will be running for the first time four teams during the coming season. As well as the 1st team in Division One, the Reserves will be playing in Division 4 and will be in the capable hands once again of Tony Gregory, assisted by Barry Mills. Richard Seldon will be running the Club's Under 18's Sunday side playing in the Chiltern Youth League and Ian Rushton, assisted by Mark Geers, will be running an Under 21 side in the Michael R Peters Sunday League. The latter team will be playing at Sunderland Road Recreation Ground.

Training for the new season commences on Monday 1st July at 6.30 pm at Bedford Road Recreation Ground and both existing and new players will be most welcome. It should be noted that during the refurbishment work there will be no showers available and players should come already changed.

Tuesday 16th July sees the Club's Annual General Meeting at 7 pm.
