Match Report

Three days before they meet in the opening league game of the 2012/13 season Shillington travelled to Bedford Road to face Sandy in the 1st round of the East Beds Charity Cup. Sandy were still missing several key players, with Chris Nicholls working, JJ and Ian Hammett still injured, and Dan Stafford rested for the start of the season, David Gill was also absent as it was discovered he was cup tied shortly before kick off. However the home side were bouyed by the return of Craig Baker and Phil Beall to the bench as they began their comebacks from injuries. Jonny Stratford was rewarded following a strong performance against Woburn with a starting position alongside Nathan Morris in attack and Ryan Burgess was again called up to the squad as a sub with the chance of making his competitive debut for the side.

Manager Ian Hammett reverted to a 4-4-2 formation with the players at his disposal and was looking for a reaction after the disappointing defeat to Woburn.
