Match Report

Sandy headed out toward Luton for the 1st round of the junior cup, the first challenge of the day was getting all cars / players to the venue, as different sat nav's took people different ways and arriving into different car parks, with most arriving at 10 past 2. This just leaving 3 players still to arrive, with only 10 men getting ready for the start, it looked like we were going to start with only 10 men, with a few minutes to go Harry with his two passengers Jordan and Anthony darted across the playing field from yet another car park, they quickly got changed, completing the side given us 2 subs for the day.

The game was quickly underway with A Sandy kick off, as we kicked the ball back to start, Four Model pounced closing our play down, winning the ball, this early move from the opposition open the score line of 7 goals against us. Sandy now shaken up with the early surprise set to work attacking and closing in on the oppositions 18 yard box. Some fantastic runs from Dora up the left wing going through 2 and 3 players before pushing the ball across the field finding our supporting players. Jonnie soon found our equalising goal as the well weighted pass from Brad found Jonnie, with an early first time touch Jonnie flicked the ball over the keeper.

Early shots from all area's of the pitch was the style off play that the opposition seemed to enjoy, finding 3 more goals in the first half. Sandy's attacks were on target but kept out from the excellent performance from the opposition's keeper, the score line could of easily been in Sandy's favour without his stylish work.

With the half time whistle Sandy took the valuable time to go through the play, keeping a positive attitude and ball to feet style we rejoined the field.

The sun behind us and Wind in our favour we attacked the play with passion. Gipson playing as left back crept forward with some excellent overlapping runs, given Dora support down the left flank, this attacking play paid off for Gipson as we positioned in the box for a corner, after a scramble Gipson picked up the ball and with his back toward the goal turned and slotted the ball home for Sandy's second of the day,(with special request from Gipson I was asked to mention in my report that Gipson's goal was a 40 yard screamer), well done Gippo. Great team work. Ball was crossed in by Dora from the corner.

More attacks down the left flank from Dora with excellent power and accurate attempts on goal were denied time and time again from the acrobatic keeper as he flung himself across the goal making finger tip saves. With both subs used on the day Sandy' football was kept strong and positive. Sandy finding themselves again attacking with shots denied from Jonnie, Chris,Stratton and Shep to mention only a few, we finally found our 3rd, a beautiful ball in from Jonnie across the gaol toward Chris and Anthony, Chris calmly slotted the ball pass the keeper for Sandy's 3rd and the final for the day.

Player of match was difficult to award as the effort from the team was excellent, but for continuous attempts on target throughout the game, Dora was selected and awarded for his hard work.

Sandy came away from the game with success in the bag, as our aim was to score a goal against the unknown side, as they had won 17 - 1 the previous week.

Happy days.
