Match Report

Sandy Reserves were to endure a disappointing night at Bedford Road as they lost convincingly to the visitors.

At Half Time Sandy were already 4 - 1 down. Hobgoblin Old boys took the lead with a soft goal after some sloppy defending, they added to this lead quickly as the next 3 goals all came from set pieces. Sandy were very static at each of the corners allowing Hobgoblin Old Boys players to drift unmarked into the box for free headers which punished the errors.

There was some cheer before half time as a lovely move down Sandy's left flank saw the ball delivered by Brad Dennis into Leon Brayn who turned well and placed the ball into the top corner. This was the one time that Sandy actually played some positive football and it resulted in a goal.

Sandy managed to steady the ship in the second half, but two late goals from their opponents condemned them to a heavy defeat.

Manager Graham Ward felt that there had been a lot of effort and running throughout the game, but felt that the performance lacked confidence and self belief. He also felt that the team lost their shape and the team needed to support each other better. He felt that there was plenty to work on for the coming season.
