Match Report

Sandy U21s started their cup campaign after losing in the league last weekend to a strong AFC Biggleswade with the match ending in 2-4. However, their cup game this morning, Sunday 29th September, was a complete contrast.

Sandy were straight into the game with great moving and passing in which the first goal came from Ben Walton-Smith after a great run down the wing to fire the ball home to make it 1-0. Sandy were on fire with the midfield moving the ball around them. Two more goals followed from Sam Jones and Michael Rushton to make it 3-0 at the break. Second half was all Sandy again with great playing from all team members and further goals from Jones, Dean Hill, Tom Long and two from Johnnie Stratford which sealed an 8-0 victory to Sandy.

The U21s were wearing their new kit which Manager Ian Rushton and number 3 player Michael Rushton were proud to show off as the team's contribution to raising awareness for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Laura Albone, Ian's daughter and Michael's sister, who suffers from this condition used to play football for Sandy Ladies; however, no longer being able to play, the boys were keen to show their support.
