Dinnington Town FC | 0-0 | Collingham |
Dinnington fought for 70mins to hold onto their first point of the season after seeing themselves go down to 10 men.
Debutant Piper MacNeil was sent off within 25mins of the first half after pulling back a Collingham forward, although he appeared to be running away from goal which suggested the red card was harsh.
From this point on it seemed Collingham would pick up their fourth win in consecutive games, but Town put up a great fight, with the back line marshalled excellently by Scott McKenna.
The introduction of Sheldon McDonald at half time provided fresh legs to chase the Collingham possession, restricting them to minimal clear cut chances to score.
With the final kick of the game it seemed like Dinno might have found themselves an unlikely three points, but McDonald's shot could only find the opposition goalkeeper.
Manager Matt Jenkinson said he was pleased with the point and delighted with the defensive display, adding "the players have now set the bar in terms of work rate, we expect to see this level throughout the season."
