AFC Bolton 1-1 Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s

YMCA came away with a point in a thoroughly entertaining game played on a very muddy pitch in Bolton last Sunday.  YMCA started the game on fire and took the lead within the first three mins when a fine long ball from Georgia Norman at the back found Isabelle Kells who gathered and netted with a neat finish. YMCA keeper Olivia Neal was outstanding throughout pulling off a number of excellent saves to retain her team’s lead at half time. In the second half YMCA maintained their excellent play but AFC Bolton came more into the game in the latter stages and their pressure finally paid off with three minutes remaining when YMCA failed to clear in their box and their striker nipped in to equalise. In midfield Honey Griffith, Ellie McNally and Saisha Bracken were competitive and won a number of 50:50 balls. In defence Madison Lucas, Ellie Jones, Georgia Norman and Phoebe Davies were outstanding and denied the home team on a number of occasions and up front Kells and Annabelle Jackson were live wires throughout.  YMCA can be proud of their performance against a useful AFC Bolton side and the game was played in an excellent spirit. Despite the difficult pitch conditions both teams tried to play good football with numerous chances created at both ends.
