Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 7-0 Barrowford Celtic

YMCA put in a fine team display at a cold but sunny Seafield Road last Sunday. They started in bright fashion and in the 8th minute a corner from Isabelle Kells was turned in expertly by Saisha Bracken. Soon after a fine through ball by the hard working Ellie McNally found Georgia Norman who made no mistake in increasing their lead. YMCA were playing some fine passing football and more goals followed with Honey Griffith finding Kells on the left hand side who neatly turned and found the top corner with a sweet finish. Griffith then got into the act with a fine strike outside the box in off the post before Griffith scored her second with a strong run through the visitors defence to make it 5-0 going at the break. The second half was more of the same with the YMCA rearguard of Lara Pilling, Madison Lucas and Holly Crossley standing firm. 10 minutes after the restart another corner from Kells found Norman who swivelled and found the goal to make it 6-0. Honey Griffith then capped an impressive display with a shot which deflected off a Barrowford defender for an unfortunate own goal to complete the scoring. In an excellent team performance Yasmine Menezes was outstanding throughout as was goalkeeper Olivia Neal whose kicking was excellent.
