Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 4-2 Cadley

YMCA notched up a fine victory over second placed Cadley at a sunny Seafield Road last Sunday. They started very brightly putting the visitors defence pressure on from the start and eventually they took the lead in the 25th min. A corner from Ellie McNally caused chaos in the visitors’ defence and the ball was deflected into the net by a Cadley defender and they remained 1-0 ahead at the break. Cadley came much more into the game after the restart and began to cause YMCA more problems and they notched an equaliser 10 mins into the second half after YMCA’s defence had failed to clear. The visitors then netted again soon afterwards to go 2-1 in front but YMCA responded superbly. Isabelle Kells, who was outstanding throughout, weaved her way through the Cadley defence with a mazy dribble to score an excellent goal to level the scores at 2-2. With 10 mins remaining another dangerous corner from McNally was turned in by Honey Griffith to put YMCA 3-2 ahead. In a pulsating end to the game YMCA made the game safe when another fine break led to Kells finding space to score her second of the game. In an impressive overall YMCA team display goalkeeper Olivia Neal was outstanding throughout with Saisha Bracken and Madison Lucas both notable also in defence.
