Clitheroe Wolves 5-1 Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s

YMCA suffered their first defeat in five games in awful playing conditions at a wet and windy Clitheroe last Sunday. Although YMCA went into the game in a fine run of form they started slowly and the home side quickly took the lead before YMCA could muster up an attack. Clitheroe continued on the offensive and added a further four goals to lead 5-0 at half time. However all was not lost and YMCA went out in the second half showing great spirit and giving their all. Ellie McNally and Honey Griffith led the midfield charge and several chances were created before they deservedly pulled a goal back which their play deserved after the interval. Outstanding play from McNally set up Georgia Norman whose pace took her through on goal before she netted with a fine finish. Although more chances were calved out by YMCA they couldn’t add any further goals but this was a battling and brave display in the atrocious conditions. Lara Pilling and Madison Lucas were notable throughout in the YMCA defence.
