Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s | 4-5 | Clitheroe Wolves |
A hugely entertaining game saw a narrow defeat for the Under 11's girls team. The visitors looked lively at the start and raced into a 0-3 lead within the first 15 minutes with some clinical break away finishing. New signing Ellie Etheridge made an instant impact after coming on a substitute and reduced the deficit to 1-3 at half time. After the break Clitheroe scored again to make it 1-4 but YMCA were far from out and Etheridge notched again to make it 2-4. YMCA began to believe in themselves abit more and Etheridge scored a great counter attack goal to make 3-4. However Clitheroe increased their lead once again to make it 3-5. However all was not lost and Etheridge capped her man of the match performance with a 4th goal to make it 4-5 with 6 minutes left. The girls tried their best to score the equaliser but it never came however they can go home in the knowledge of another very encouraging performance in only their second ever game. Goalkeeper Olivia Neal was once again outstanding as was Madison Lucas who operated in midfield and defence and did a sterling job.
