Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 5-1 Great Harwood Rovers

YMCA put in a fine performance in pleasant conditions at Seafield Road last Sunday. They went into the game in good form and had four opportunities in the opening 10 mins to take the lead. However, they found themselves behind after failing to clear the ball from their penalty area. With some neat passing football though YMCA continued to create chances and were rewarded when, after good play from Yasmine Menezes, Georgia Norman raced clear and fired home to level the scores. They soon added a second goal with a touch of class from Isabelle Kells who weaved left and right past numerous defenders to score a great individual goal.  A third YMCA goal came when a corner by Kells was deflected into her own goal by an unfortunate visitors’ defender to give YMCA a 3-1 lead at the break.  After the restart YMCA continued to press forward driven by the outstanding Ellie McNally in midfield and Kells notched her 2nd goal of the game after a smart turn and finish in the box. Kells then claimed her hat trick to cap an outstanding performance with another good finish to complete YMCA’s victory. In an impressive overall team display Saisha Bracken and Lara Pilling were both particularly notable as was goalkeeper Olivia Neal who was dependable as ever.
