Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 5-3 Langho

YMCA produced an excellent team display to fully deserve this win in cold but pleasant conditions at Seafield Road last Sunday.  Going into the game with confidence they took the lead early with a strike from Annabelle Jackson whose shot found the net after a deflection from a Langho defender.  They doubled their lead midway through the half after the home goalkeeper failed to clear and the ball landed to Jackson who expertly shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 at half time.  After the break the visitors began to put more pressure on the YMCA goal however the rearguard of Ellie Jones, Phoebe Davies, Madison Lucas and Georgia Norman were outstanding throughout. Bad luck affected YMCA soon into the second half as goalkeeper Olivia Neal was forced to go off injured with defender Jones taking the gloves.  This did not affect YMCA though and they scored a third goal with captain Ellie McNally who netted with a fine effort after the ball was cleared to her.  Langho did exert some pressure and they scored a fine individual goal to make the score 3-1 but the outstanding Jackson scored her second goal of the game after pouncing on to a loose the ball in the box.  Langho however did not give up and they scored soon after to make the score 4-2 and with 5 mins remaining they scored again to reduce their deficit to 4-3 leaving YMCA with a battle on their hands to save the game.  However, good work again from Jackson found McNally who made no mistake in scoring a fifth goal to secure the points for YMCA in a pulsating contest.  In an excellent team display Honey Griffith, Isabelle Kells, Lara Pilling and Saisha Bracken were all notable.
