Langho 2-1 Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s

YMCA were left frustrated after suffering defeat in sunny and pleasant conditions in the Ribble Valley last Sunday. The game was played on a full size pitch but mini-soccer goals were used which made it a much harder task to score goals.  Although YMCA had most of the possession in the first half they could not take advantage and too often the ball was lost when the better opportunity was to shoot on goal.  The 1st half ended in a goalless stalemate but YMCA came out in the second half with more vigor. However, bad luck occurred when goalkeeper Olivia Neal suffered a knee injury and had to leave the field.  YMCA were then caught on the break and the home side took advantage to take the lead.  YMCA battled hard to get back into the contest and were rewarded when Annabelle Jackson caused havoc in the Langho defence and beat three players before crossing to Honey Griffith to level the scores at 1-1.  With YMCA pushing for the winner Langho once again scored against the run of play to regain the lead. Despite their best efforts YMCA couldn’t find another equaliser, with the home goalkeeper in fine form, denying striker Isabelle Kells from scoring in the closing minutes. Georgia Norman, Saisha Bracken and Lara Pilling were all notable for YMCA.
