Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 2-0 Lostock Hall

YMCA produced a tremendous team performance to clinch the League Championship in this final game of the season at Seafield Rd last Sunday.  After having tasted defeat against the same opponents the previous weekend in the NVBUL Cup Final they responded in excellent fashion by starting the game with great purpose.  The midfield trio of Honey Griffith, Ellie McNally and Megan Lewis took early control with a powerful and determined will to win every loose ball and YMCA took a 2-0 lead inside the first 15 mins. The ball broke free to McNally on the right and her cross into the Lostock area was met by Annabelle Jackson who blasted the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-0. Their lead was soon doubled when a great clearance from keeper Olivia Neal found Isabelle Kells on the left and after gathering the ball she cut in and blasted a superb shot past the Lostock keeper and into the far corner of the net. It remained 2-0 at the interval and after the restart YMCA continued to display the same determination and purpose winning most of the 50/50 balls.  Whenever Lostock did threaten Lara Pilling, Phoebe Davies, Saisha Bracken and Madison Lucas stood firm in the YMCA defence and denied the visitors any real clear cut chances. No further goals came from either side in the second half and YMCA ended the game celebrating this 2-0 victory with the outstanding achievement of completing a league season with an undefeated record and winning their first league title to cap off a highly successful campaign.
