Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 17-1 Whitworth Valley

YMCA were in dominant mood as they produced an outstanding team performance to blow away their Rochdale based opponents at a wet Seafield Rd last Sunday. Despite being inactive for five weeks due to the winter break YMCA dusted off their cobwebs with some impressive flowing football and took the lead in the 10th min when a long ball from Megan Lewis found captain Ellie McNally who made no mistake with a fine finish.  They doubled their lead when Isabelle Kells capitalised on a weak clearance from the visiting keeper and McNally then scored her second to make it 3-0 with a controlled finish. A throw in from McNally then caused havoc in the defence and Annabelle Jackson made it 4-0 and further goals followed with McNally netting a further three times  with Kells on target again to give YMCA an 8-0 lead the break.  YMCA looked determined to carry on after the restart where they left off but it was the visitors who scored the next goal to make it 8-1.  However, YMCA quickly regained their earlier dominance to blitz the visitors with McNally scoring a further four goals to complete a tremendous display with a treble hat trick. Kells added four more goals to bring her match tally to six with Jackson netting her second near the end. Georgia Norman was outstanding throughout with her mazy runs on the right hand side causing all sorts of problems for the visitors and she was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet herself. Honey Griffith, Lara Pilling and Phoebe Davies were all notable also.
