WEEKEND 16/17 APRIL 2016

Another perfect weekend for football with bright sunshine on both days. Our 12s Girls took on league leaders Feniscowles and Pleasington Blues on a lovely sunny Sunday morning at Seafield and not only were the visitors on top of the table but they were unbeaten as well. However, they met their match in this encounter with Isabelle Kells bagging a brilliant 1st half hat trick. This gave us a 3-0 lead at the break but we couldn't add to the total in the 2nd half. The visitors managed to notch a late consolation goal but our girls finished 3-1 winners with an excellent team performance. Our 16s Girls were also at home that morning against Cumbrian based Allerdale and strikes by Poppy Bunting and Chanel Dawson gave a 2-1 interval lead. However we were very much second best in the 2nd half and the visitors netted another four goals to make their long trip home with a 5-2 victory.

On the Sunday afternoon our 14s Boys were away to Clifton Rangers where we wentt ahead with a Jorge Coultard goal. The home side levelled before the break then went ahead soon after the restart but we responded superbly. A Goal from Fenn Breakell and then a great 25yd strike by Spencer Baxendale put us 3-2 in front. However we had victory snatched away when Clifton scored again with almost the last kick of the game and it ended was a point apiece in a 3-3 draw. After the previous week's home defeat our 16s Boys returned to winning ways at BJFF Vipers. We fell behind twice but fought back to take a 3-2 lead into half time and we added four more after the break to clinch a 6-2 victory. George Hawkins and Brad Jones both netted twice with Rohan Brow and Billy Crellin also on target. On the Saturday morning our 12s were at Seafield against South Fylde rivals Warton Typhoons. An early Archie Hingley strike put us ahead but Warton equalised to make it 1-1 at half time. Oliver Williamson restored our lead in the 2nd half but the visitors displayed a lot of spirit and were denied another equaliser by some fine saves by YMCA keeper Kian Dodgson and we managed to hold on to a hard earned 2-1 win.
