WEEKEND 25/26 APRIL 2015

11s BOYS HIT EIGHT TO CLAIM RUNNERS UP SPOT. 11s GIRLS END LEAGUE SEASON ON A HIGH

YMCA's Under 11s Boys claimed the runners up medals in the Poulton & District Primary League with an excellent 8-2 victory at Kirkham with James Bradley, Spencer Phillips and Ben Ellliott all bagging two goals apiece. Their other marksmen were Ashley Waterfield and Angelo Vinci. This is an fine achievement  by the team after finishing in the bottom four of the table last season and they still have one league game to play. Our Under 11s Girls ended their league campaign with a hard fought victory away to Cadley. We took a 2-0 lead into half time but in the second half the home team levelled at 2-2 but we scored again in the closing minutes to clinch a 3-2 win. Ellie Etheridge scored twice to bring her tally for the season to 40 with Honey Griffith also on target. The team will end their campaign with a Cup Final appearance on a date and venue to be arranged. Our 13s Boys produced a superb fightback away to Kirkham. We went ahead with a superbly struck 25yd drive by Brad Jones. Kirkham though responded with two goals before the break and then added another soon after half time to go 3-1 in front. However, our boys displayed terrific character and a double strike by Denny Cain earned us a very creditable 3-3 draw. It wasn't such a good day for our 12s Boys though. They were well beaten 6-1 away to Thornton Blues, Ethan Darbyshire notching our consolation goal.
