WEEKEND 30/31 JANUARY 2016

14s CONTINUE TO BE THE 'COME BACK' KINGS - VICTORIES ALSO FOR 12s AND 16s BOYS WITH A DOUBLE BY WATERFIELD AND A HAT TRICK FROM HART

Earlier this season our 14s found themselves 0-3 behind at half time against BJFF Blades then with an incredible 2nd half fightback we clinched an amazing 5-3 victory. Just a couple of weeks ago they trailed 0-3 again at half time, this time against BJFF Blues, then fought back to earn a 3-3 draw. Our boys were at it again this weekend against Kirkham in the 1st round of the Hogan Cup. It was an evenly contested 1st half but Kirham cashed in on a couple of defensive arrors and led 2-0 at the interval. Once again though we proved to be come-back specialists by battling back in the 2nd half to clinch a 4-2 win. Central defender Ruben Shaw scored twice with two thunderous drives after Toby Grant had reduced the deficit and victory was sealed with Jake Molloy firing home with a spectacular volley at the far post. Considering this squad was thrown together by manager Duggie Shaw after half the squad and the manager defected during the summer the boys seem to have developed an amazing spirit between themselves and they obviously never know when they are beaten.

On yet another cold and wet weekend our 12s Boys were at home to Wyre Juniors and after a goalless 1st half the visitors took the lead. However our boys responded superbly and with a double strike by Ashley Waterfield, both goals set up by Harry Dyer, we came out with a hard earned 2-1 win. Our 16s Boys were at home also against Kirkham where a hat trick by Ross Hart hleped us to a comfortable 7-1 victory, Jack Bishop weighing in with a pair. Earlier on a cold and wet morning at Seafield our 16s Girls faced last season's champions BCSC from Blackburn. This was always going to be tough game for our girls and the awful weather didn't help either. Our girls though produced a very spirited display before the overall strength of our opponents proved too much in the end as we eventually went down 4-0.
