WEEKEND 9/10 APRIL 2016

TITLE SETBACK FOR 16s BOYS IN HOME DEFEAT - 14s CLINCH VICTORY WITH LATE GOAL - 12s GIRLS TOPPLE HIGH FLYERS

There were some closely fought games on this mainly sunny and pleasant weekend. Our 16s Boys took on Thornton at Seafield just 7 days after we edged a narrow 1-0 victory over them at their ground. This was another tight affair as well and this time it was Thornton who clinched the three points. The visitors took a 1-0 lead into half time then a close range Harry Fisher strike levelled the score again soon after the restart. The game contunued to be an end to end affair but Thornton regained the lead and held out for a 2-1 win which was a setback for our title hopes. Over at Cottam Hall our 14s were up against Poulton Town which proved to be another hard fought contest. Defences were on top throughout before we snatched a dramatic 1-0 victory with last minute goal by Harvey Shaw. Our 12s Girls were at Seafield taking on 2nd in the table Cadley. After being generally on top in the 1st half we took a 1-0 lead into half time thanks to an own goal. Cadley though came storming back in the 2nd half and netted twice to go 2-1 in front. However our girls showed great character and responded with three further goals to claim an excellent 4-2 victory in a very entertaining game, Isabell Kells scoring two superb goals with Honey Griffiths also on target.
