Thornton Cleveleys 0-0 Lytham St Annes YMCA U-15s

YMCA u8 travelled to Thornton Saturday on what was always going to be a cold morning! With the overnight rain it meant a change of pitch, and not the greatest start as Chris & Neil were 15 minutes late!!
This was the first time YMCA had played a full 20 minute each way game and how they stepped up to the challenge. The pitch was extremely heavy and the players knew that they would have to work hard for the entire match.
The oranges played a good Thornton team who liked to use the two wide men to cross the ball into box. Despite the difficult pitch YM did manage to play some nice football. An early goal from Lexi lifted the oranges with Zack and Thomas getting on the score sheet to. An excellent defensive performance from Ross kept it together at the back & Thierry was outstanding in the middle.
The blacks had to wait 40 minutes before that for to play but what a great attitude they showed by passing the ball on the grass area next to the pitch, whilst working on different skills and drills. Sometimes the blacks have a tendency to not listen but on Saturday this wasnt the case, they played some excellent football and Noah opened the scoring with a header that just crept over the line, more goals came as the game continued coming from Max,Billy,Freddie & Charlee. The blacks worked as a team this morning which was great to see.
Overall a good morning of football especially with conditions, two 40 minute games, well done to everyone!!
