Match Report

YMCA came away from Preston last Sunday with their first defeat since November but still went home with their heads held high. The game was always going to be a close affair with two equally matched teams and it was the home side who took the lead after a long ball from the defence took YMCA by surprise and a shot deflected off a defender leaving goalkeeper Olivia Neal with no chance. However YMCA began to come more into the game and equalised when an excellent corner from Ellie McNally found Isabelle Kells who fired home. YMCA then went ahead when a long clearance from goalkeeper Neal found Kells who struck with a sweet volley to find the top corner and it remained 2-1 at the break. Cadley though levelled within the 10 seconds of the restart after YMCA failed to clear from the kick off and the home side then put more pressure on the YMCA defence and scored again to go 3-2 ahead. A further Cadley goal followed but YMCA were not out of the game and they pulled a goal back after an excellent ball from McNally found Kells who made no mistake to claim her hat trick with 3 mins remaining. YMCA pushed hard to find the winner but it just wasn’t to be but in a thoroughly entertaining game, Honey Griffith, Madison Lucas and Saisha Bracken were all notable.
