Dinnington Town FC 0-1 Askern

Dinno fell to their second defeat of the season at home against an Askern side who could consider themselves lucky to hold onto all three points.

Town won a penalty in a scrappy first half but Jack Hutchinson saw his effort held well. Less than a minute later, Askern earned their lead after a long ball found it's way through the Dinnington defence, with a clever looped finish over Daniel Heald.

The second half saw Dinno create several chances, with Askern's goalkeeper doing well to tip over a powerful header from Sheldon McDonald over the crossbar.

Chances came and went, with Jacob France and Hotheyfa Gadour seeing efforts over the bar and wide of the posts. Space opened up in the final ten minutes as Askern's defenders continued to drain, with both Ryan Hall and Dec Martin asking questions with wide runs and early crosses.

Manager Matt Jenkinson was left to rue the missed opprtunities: "The result is not what we wanted but we have lots of positives to take from the game with plenty of opportunities to put it right." Commented Jenks after the game.

He continued: "We have a quality young squad and we have our training regimes so there is no panic. We've got to stick to our belief's, be disciplined and organised out of the possession as well as becoming clinical in front of goal."
