Whitworth Valley 0-4 Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-15s

YMCA made the long trip to Rochdale last Sunday and came away with a fine victory at a venue they had never won at previously to maintain their 100% league record. Despite the heavy pitch conditions YMCA started the game in determined fashion playing some fluid and attractive football and took the lead in the 7th min. A fine ball from Lara Pilling at the back found Annabelle Jackson who turned skilfully and played in Isabelle Kells who neatly slotted home. 10 mins later YMCA doubled their lead when Yasmine Menezes picked the ball up midway inside her own half and let fly with a swerving effort which looped over the goalkeeper's head - a certain goal of the season contender!  YMCA continued to press the home side and some excellent work from Georgia Norman on the right resulted in a cross for Kells to strike home to make it 3-0 at half time. After the break the home side started to come more into the game but the YMCA rearguard of goalkeeper Olivia Neal, Megan Lewis, Lara Pilling and Phoebe Davies stood firm throughout.  Midway through the half YMCA finished the game off with a fourth goal after a fine shot from Jackson could only be parried by the goalkeeper and Kells was on hand to fire home the loose ball to complete her hat trick.  Honey Griffith and Georgia Norman were notable throughout in a very impressive YMCA team performance.
