Lytham St Annes YMCA Girls U-16s 6-2 Cadley

YMCA produced an excellent team performance in cold and windy conditions at Seafield Road last Sunday. They started the game brightly and caused the visitors problems from the outset with their commitment and attacking play.  They took the lead inside the first 5 mins when captain Ellie McNally gave Annabelle Jackson the chance to put them ahead.  Isabelle Kells was causing havoc in the Cadley defence and she doubled YMCA’s lead with a fine finish.  However the visitors started to get back into the game and after YMCA failed to clear a corner they were punished with the visitors pulling a goal back.  The impressive Jackson though, who was a constant threat throughout then crossed from the right hand side and Kells swiveled smartly to claim her 2nd goal .YMCA reached half time with a 4-1 lead when further good work from Jackson found McNally who struck a sweet shot to score.  After the break YMCA kept up the pressure and an excellent through ball from Saisha Bracken found Kells whose pace took her clear from the Cadley defence to make it 5-1.  The visitors though did not give up and they scored a consolation goal with ten minutes remaining but  YMCA were still not finished and from a corner the ball was loose in the penalty area and Bracken struck YMCA’s sixth goal of the game.  In an excellent team performance, Phoebe Davies, Georgia Norman, Yasmine Menezes, Honey Griffith and Ellie Jones were all notable with Goalkeeper Olivia Neal also impressive throughout with her decisive interceptions and excellent kicking.
